Its structure allows for high absorption per weight without losing its structural integrity. Customers can easily sweep up the product after absorption, due to the fact it does not become soft. Zeolite has a similar look and feel as sand Ð however with major differences. Unlike sand, zeolite has incredible porosity (a teaspoon of zeolite has a similar surface area as a football field). International zeolite organizations predict the most immediate growth potential for zeolite in North America is its use for odour control in cat litter and feedlot operations
VETERNARY TESTIMONIAL Canyon Meadows Veterinary Clinic Calgary, AlbertaZeolite cat litter is most effective in terms of controlling odour. Jonny Cat brand can't even compare. This is a very important factor in veterinary practice. Cat urine has an extremely distinctive odour - that of an intact male being the most objectionable to we humans; the odour of urine from cats with urinary infections, and females in estrus is detectable to other animals while being virtually undetectable to us. Odours in a veterinary clinic create an impression of cleanliness in a practice, and can be a big 'turn-off' to clients, and, believe it or not, to our patients. A good test of odour control can be performed by simply observing the behavior of hospitalized and outpatient cats coming for appointments on a day when I've scheduled several castrations for "Street Cats," ' a group that fosters and adopts out stray cats. There are less odours using zeolite cat litter and the patients, particularly the cats, are less agitated.
Patient acceptance is no problem - the patients love it. I compared zeolite cat litter to Jonny Cat and Yesterday's News. Cats are fussy about odours and textures - I've already mentioned the aversion of some cats to those scented colored granules. With the pelletized newspaper product, we have consistently observed cats that will urinate but not defecate.
Zeolite improves ease of handling probably because of the factors such tracking and low-dust. This litter is great to work with. The granules do not fragment into dust. The boxes are fairly free of debris when they are in the sink for disinfection, and no problems with plumbing.
And most people think it's just cat litter...
Sincerely,
Robert D. Crown, D.V.M.Owner, Canyon Meadows Veterinary Clinic, Calgary, Canada.
